South Africa is still the plainsgame capital of Africa and is the only country where you can hunt all of the big five with ease.A wide range of plainsgame occurs in South Africa which could be added onto any big five safari. Arrival points could either be Johannesburg, Cape Town or Port Elizabeth. South Africa is very safe to hunt and tour and is in general the best destination to take your family with on safari. Phillip Bronkhorst Safaris operate in eight of the nine provinces mainly for plainsgame. We use certain government areas for big five and our base camp is on a 15 000 acres game reserve which already has 3 of the big five on it namely Buffalo, Rhino and Leopard.
Topography
Base camp, situated almost in the heart of the Limpopo Province on the foothills of the Waterberg escarpment from where all hunting is done. Hunting is done in areas which vary from hillsides, savannah, valleys, riverine areas to grassplains. Diffirent species occurs in different topography and sionce South Africa is so specie rich you have to confirm which area you will be hunting and what the specific topography would look like.
Accommodation
Luxury Safari accommodation is in all areas consisting of luxury chalets and rooms to typical East African Style tents 220Volt Electricity is available in all camps.The bush chef will prepare meals consisting mostly of venison, vegetables and fruit from the area. A bar is available and before arrival in camp you will inform us what you wish to have in camp.
Laundry is done on a daily basis.
Access
Pick-up is done from either one of the major airports by a Phillip Bronkhorst Safaris agent. Ellisras area has an airstrip 40 km from camp and pick up from there is by car. Camp could also be reached by car which could take up to 4 hours of driving.
Season
Hunting usually starts in April since it rains before that. Hunting is done until late October before the rains start again.

Health
Keep in mind malaria is only in certain areas of South Africa and not an everyday occurrence like the rest of Africa. See your doctor for medical advise. With the chartered plane in camp you are always sure of a safe flight out to a doctor or hospital if needed. Hospitals and doctors are always within an hours drive from a hunting area and with cellphone coverage almost all over South Africa safety and medical is a walk in the park
Communications
Communications with camp is via satellite phone, cellphone, telephone or fax, email or radio. It is advisable to bring your own Satellite phone with.
Taxidermy
Trophies are field prepared in camp from where it is shipped to a local taxidermist. From South Africa your trophies will either be dipped and shipped to your taxidermist or you can have it mounted in South Africa.
Terms of Business
Since we work on a system of firstcome first serveit is required from you to book your prefernce list well in advance You are therefore required to do a 50% deposit of your daily rate, which is not refundable. This must be done almost 12 to 15 months in advance but late cancellations could also help you getting into a area on short notice. Daily rates must be paid up before the safari starts and the rest of the trophy fees is payable at the end of the safari.
